How do you treat dry eyes?
Dry Eye treatments vary depending on the severity of your dry eyes as well as whether your dry eye condition is aqueous deficient, evaporative or a combination of both. Some other causes include incomplete blinking.
Aqueous deficient dry eye is caused by a lack of tear film produced from the eyes. Evaporative dry eye is caused by poor quality tear film produced from the eyes. It is not uncommon for patients to present with a combination of both.

Once we have determined what is causing your dry eyes, we treat them accordingly.
Dry Eye Treatment Procedure
Each of our dry eye treatment plans, otherwise known as an ‘action plan’, are tailored to our dry eye patients according to their diagnosis.
The severity of the dry eye condition will be explained by the Optometrist, and the treatment and management are clearly outlined.
It is important to understand that not all our action plans result in curing dry eye conditions. That is why the Dry Eye Group in Melbourne promote the Dry Eye Journey. Action plans enable our Optometrists to manage your condition which may require ongoing and repeated attention that is frequently required.
Our Optometrists set realistic expectations for patients.

Not all dry eye conditions can be cured. In some instances, the patient may only not see significant improvements in their dry eye symptoms.
The most important step in your dry eye journey is to prevent your meibomian gland disease from worsening and to stop your dry eye condition from progressing.
